Happy 161st Birthday to Alpha Delta Pi!
i couldn’t be any more in tune with my sorority’s open motto: we live for each other.
funny how some things in life turn out. never thought i’d be in a sorority, never thought i’d love it as much as i do and care so passionately for it. here’s to another great year with sisters that i never thought i’d have.

isn’t it funny how times have changed
something really cool happened today.
well background info: i love social media. i love the power it gives people, the confidence it instills in us, the endless possibilities it withholds for empowering others to move and act in new and ambitious ways. anyway, i get this strange irk that social media is going to be apart of my future (at least for some of it).
which kind of explains why i even have this tumblr. 2 years ago, i probably would’ve resorted to writing my thoughts in a journal. but now, we’ve got tumblr - and i can blog text, photos, videos, songs, reposts and who knows what else.
so then i started tweeting like crazzzy - i’ve got my personal account, and then i manage one for the progressive student club I started at school, one for an upcoming delaware politician, a secret one that i can’t share with you, and then one for my sorority (ADPI BABY).
on top of these twitter accounts, they all have companion facebook accounts that i oversee as well. anyway, long story short - i love this shit. and tonight at school there was the YoUDee Leadership awards, and ADPi won Outstanding Greek Social Media!!
(we also won 4 other awards, including Chapter of the Year! and Deltronica [an AWESOME electronic music club that my best friend started] won best new event for Bass Campus!!!….very very exciting news! but irrelevant to my point…)
1. I didn’t even know we were up for this award.
2. My lovely friend liiiirwin shared this news with me when she found out and it really put a smile on my face :)
i dont share this story as an attempt to brag about myself. i share it because tonight was a very humbling and joyful moment. everything came full circle - i followed my instinct to really start mastering social media, i put myself out there in so many different ways, and BOOM - somebody recognized me for it. this just puts a smile on my face because i believe that tonight was a sign that i’m finally headed in the right direction, and that i gotta keep pursuing this dream of mine…i think it’s gonna take me places.
this is what happens when i live in the moment and just breathe. just do things i haven’t done in forever - CHILL. breathe in the youth surrounding me, because soon it’s going to be gone. (and this selfie photobooth photo shoot i just took at 2:30am on a wednesday night by myself will no longer be acceptable some day…)
i am in such a peaceful state of mind tonight. it’s amazing the range of emotions i can feel in just one day. from sick to awake to sad to love to joy to peace to bliss. all in one day? i’m probably crazy. but this new release from alesso is just the best way to end my wednesday. i can’t wait for the summer, i’m sure this is going to be one of the biggest anthems. this music still hits me - i thought i might’ve been moving away, but damn it just always knows how to make my bones move. gr0ove 0n.
soulmates
i believe in soulmates. some couples that are soulmates may not be the people you like to surround yourself with all of the time, but in their eyes - they are perfect.
how do you explain couples who have been together for 25, 30, even 50+ years? i’ve always wondered how they stay together after so many years. not that i think people need to/should cheat on each other and can’t manage staying with one person…because i don’t. but it’s interesting to think that one person can be your best friend until the end of time. one person can keep you entertained for years and years. that you can grow up and grow old with that same person, and no matter who you are or who you become, they will always still be around.
we are all capable of finding our soulmates - but we are only going to find them if we put ourselves in our destined environment. if we are in our form of ecstasy with them, then they will never stop feeling good. you will always be soulmates.
this is DEFINITELY my most requested thing from people LOL not mad. everyone needs a good massage every once in a while…or every day.

HA! I DO THIS ALL OF THE TIME. beautiful
finally - some hope!
i’ve always wondered why i can’t focus on my work when i’m at the silent. stuffy. and cold library.
then yesterday i had an instinct to do my work at panera over dinner before my greek week mixer. i haven’t done that since october so i’m not sure what made me think to do this - but THANK GOD I DID.

thank you panera - thank you for your cozy (but slightly noisy) environment because i finally found a place where I can focus and do my work!! (such a nerd right now) but seriously, what a great feeling it is to be able to get all of my work done in half the amount of time it would’ve taken me at the lib.
also, i didn’t bring my phone with me when i was in panera. and the only things i missed out on were 13 texts and 2 emails. honestly, i don’t really care. im willing to sacrifice my phone for a few hours if its allows me to be more calm and sane.
new realizations will come when we least expect them too. always keeping my eyes, ears and mind open to new ways of living and breathing in this chaotic part of my life that i call college.
there’s always hope - even when we least expect it. always hope.
WOW. THIS IS A GREAT VIDEO FOR SO MANY REASONS.
1) The United States Senate just released this 7:41 minute video to show citizens that they are listening to us, the people, the change-makers of America. who knew that members of the senate would take the time to make this video, let alone release it on a social media platform that our generation is so keenly aware of.
2) Maybe they are doing this to make themselves look good for the election, but Senator Chris Coons from DELAWARE is not up for re-election. I can’t believe I just watched a video of Democrats AND Republicans in Congress coming together over an issue that the American people clearly care about. Finally!!! Finally finally finally - all of the optimism I developed for our government when I was in DC is finally coming full circle.
This is the first time that I feel as if my government is directly responding to our concerns and our interests. And they did so in a way that was not intimidating, easy to understand, and very accessible for a lot of people in my generation. This is amazing. I appreciate that they address the fact that this will take a while to happen - for all of the forces and units in the world to come together and to be successful.
But when Americans put their mind to something, they get it done. We, the people of the United States of America are finally speaking up, speaking loudly and MAKING our government listen to us.
I love this place. POWER TO THE PEOPLE YO.
Tweeting on the door. I dig this! I think it’s also a great way to introduce classroom tweeting or a lesson in online etiquette.Twitter Door- The kids can tweet about what is happening. There are 30 laminated sentences strips so everyone (including the teacher) has a place to “tweet” on the door.
This is sick
THIS IS BRILLIANT. ironic that the day i decide to ditch my policy paper on educational technology that i come across this post. if we start to teach our students how to use social media to benefit themselves, boy is this world going to be in for a shock at how brilliant and creative our generation is.
Today I realized how grateful I am for nature and sight. As stupid as that might sound I really mean it. In terms of sight, I had to wear my glasses all week because I scratched my corneas last weekend and being able to put in my contacts today for the first time and I was just so appreciative to not have to wear my glasses. Sight is such a beautiful thing that most of us tend to take for granted. Plus not having to wear sunglasses over my glasses when it was sunny is always a plus…
Anddd on top of that with all of this great weather from lovely global warming, our school has been BEAUTIFUL!!! The trees are budding and everyone’s just in a happier mood overall. Today I probably should have been packing for my trip to new Orleans tomorrow but I decided to just relax and embrace this beautiful weather. I sat outside for hours and just lost myself in the beautiful sounds of Dave Matthews band :)
Here’s just a reminder for any of you out there that may have forgotten how beautiful your life is and just remember to embrace every moment because you won’t get it back again!!!
a very inspiring and beautiful post from my best friend, lirwin. crazy to think that we can find people so similar to us in this complex and chaotic world we live in. she keeps me sane and i am so lucky to have her as my gypsy lovin dmb raging sista friend for life :)
